Seryus
Seryus (pronounced serious) started out as an MC and producer on the fledgling Edinburgh Hip-Hop scene in 1990, honing his craft as one-half of Black Steel. Success came fast, as they supported some of the UK's finest - Gunshot, Hijack and Blade. He soon became established as one of Scotland's leading Hip-Hop DJs forming part of Edinburgh's Funky Mutha Sound System, whose clubs attracted an eclectic mixture of guest DJs and artists from the London Posse to Patrick Forge. In 1995, supported by Tommy Boy Records, Black Steel appeared live at Edinburgh's first Mela. That year Seryus took the Edinburgh festival by storm, tearing up the decks at FunkYou! and appearing as a guest on the Mastermind Sound System at the Nottinghill Carnival.

In late 1995 Seryus relocated to South London, but still found the time to fulfil his duties back in Edinburgh as a DJ. His move allowed him to dedicate more time to production and diversifying into new areas. In 1996/97 he hooked up with drum & bass label Quayside Records, which led to the release of Raw/Roll Dat Shit under the name of Da Prophet.

His production work continued to blow up, leading to him working with US female rapper Karamelle on her debut album. During 1998 he linked up with KMT Promotions to work on a series of tracks for up & coming UK Hip-Hop artists, including Cyrus Da Virus (OVK) & Daddie Stabbrie.

Seryus once again proved his versatility, when he was approached by legendary US Blues artist and producer Marcus Malone to produce some tracks for a new R&B project for Universal Records. Recently he has joined forces with DJ and UK Hip-Hop Awards nominee Princess B to work on a series of compilations showcasing the talents of new and innovative UK Hip-Hop artists. He is currently working on material with emcees such as Da Chill One, Honeybrown & A.M. (C.O.N. Artists).

Seryus presents his live Off Tha Road Hip-Hop Show on Ramjam Radio every Friday night at 10 pm to 12 midnight GMT.
