Ramjam Radio Special In-Studio Event
First-Ever All-Day Clash

The Ramjam Radio All-Day Clash Event brought many of our DJs to the Ramjam studio on Monday, May 1st, 2006. The first Monday in May is Spring Bank Holiday in the UK (a day off work and paid). We thought that, instead of the usual re-streaming of recorded shows, we would broadcast live from the station all day with an abundance of good music.

First to arrive and set the wheels in motion was MsFlexin. She kicked off the first 30 minutes with some reggae and a competition: MsFlexin offered to raid Glen T's CD cupboard and offer the prize - which was not won - of one CD for each correct answer, to anyone who could answer the following three questions: MsFlexin catching DJ Wax arriving *just* in time for the Clash Hmmmmmmm, MsFlexin still has the 3 CDs!!

Glen T and Master K arrived, followed by Surespirit, and Camman. At 12:25 pm there was still no sign of DJ Wax, but we were not worried; it was said that he would arrive at the last minute, like a superstar, and be ready - and he did! Just as MsFlexin was about to impose a fine on DJ Wax, he arrived within a minute or two of when the clash started.

Well, the show went on with the Garage & Jungle clash beginning at 12:30 pm. DJ Surespirit kicked off the first round; the jungle was spinning, the vibes started kicking in, and then DJ Wax took up the turntables for his session of the first round. In the end, the first round was taken by Surespirit, the second round by DJ Wax, and the third round was a tie.

DJ Camman and The Master KNext was the Roots and Culture clash between The Master K and DJ Camman. Well, the newest member of the team was not to be intimidated or out-done by age and experience - Camman held his own. The Master K took the first round, Camman took the second round, and again it was a tie for the 3rd round.

Meantime, in the office, Glen T went on the offensive left and came back in with 2 of the biggest record boxes, filled with tunes. After everyone in the office had finished falling apart in laughter, Glen T was asked if he had enough tunes to choose from, who he had come to kill-off, and was he sure he had enough tunes?? (He had more to choose from in the racks room!)

Well, as if listeners could take any more wicked tunes... along came the Vinyl-Only 45's Jugglin' clash between The Master K and Glen T. Looking in from the office to The Master K and Glen Tthe studio, all the DJs could be seen huddling round the studio door, as they had been since the clashes started - the noise levels going higher and higher. The battle was fierce: The Master K took the first round, while Glen T took both the 2nd and third rounds.

Looking in from the office, all that could been seen in the last round of the clash was Glen T (not sitting), head bobbing and going from side to side, like he was unstoppable. Looking on, MsFlexin started to wonder why she did not let DJ Wax challenge Glen T in the soon-to-start Lovers clash instead!!

DJ CammanNot to be fazed by Glen T's victorious demeanour, MsFlexin knew she had to start the Lover's clash at the highest level, in order to stand a chance. Glen T took the first round, but MsFlexin is not so easily intimidated - even though she *was* shaking in her boots (literally). MsFlexin came back hard in the second round and won, and brought it twice as hard in the 3rd round, which was a tie.

On the whole it was a day of good, wholesome, clean fun. The time went quickly but was enjoyed by all who attended, listeners and chatters alike. In fact, the clash was such a success that there were murmurs of "When is the next All Dayer/Clash?" going round before the first clash was even finished.

DJ Wax and Lizzy GLaps of honour were taken by DJ Surespirit for Garage & Jungle, Camman for Roots and Culture, Master K for Vinyl-only 45's Reggae Jugglin' and Glen T for Lovers.
